The pre-incarnate Christ, and two angels, visit Abraham and Sarah in the desert. And He reiterates His promise to her. Sarah laughs, not in belief, but in disbelief. But God is going to accomplish His purpose in her life and remain true to His promise to her whether she believes or not. Her Laughter of disbelief gives way to laughter of joy a year later when God proves his promises are always true. God doesn't wait for Sarah to believe, and He doesn't wait on us to believe either. He gives us every good thing even though we doubt His goodness.

God covenants with Abraham, but He also calls Abraham to obey. God calls Abraham to bear the sign of circumcision, that he might live by faith in the hope of the Promised One to come. The Promised One comes, bringing with Him a circumcision made without hands, that His faithful might live obediently by the sign of His New Covenant (baptism), while waiting with hope for His return.

Abraham, is learning very quickly that his new God would not tolerate his old ways of worshiping the moon god. He used to pay tribute to the moon god but in this passage we see Abraham now gives to the LORD because he wants everyone to know that he no longer worships the moon god, he worships the Most High. When we give sacrificially we remind ourselves where our true allegiance is. Who do you worship? You can find out if you look at your bank statement.

Abraham, enters Egypt to save his family. But he is so afraid for his life that he gives his wife to the Pharaoh! The wife who was to bear a son that God promised would bless all the nations! Not the stereotypical picture of father Abraham. But we have fear too. What can we learn from this man of faith about our own fear?

David tells us in beautiful language how beautiful it is to be planted in the house of the Lord.

In Psalm 72 David offers a prayer for his son who will take his place. He prays for prosperity, but it doesn't really look like the way we define prosperity. David knows that in the Kingdom of God less is more.

The Colossian Church has brought their traditions into the gospel of Christ. Paul is saying in this passage that Christ is enough. The Gospel is enough. Which seems simple enough, but still seem to do the same thing today.

How do we worship a "Consuming Fire"? How does "I Am" want to be worshipped?

The Christian life is lived in community. When we consider the early Church in the book of Acts, their faith was lived out with one another in a way that bore witness to the gospel to the surrounding world.

Jesus is the Good Samaritan. He came to feel the weight of our condition, and to do something about it. Now He is calling us to "go and do likewise"! Will you follow His call?

Advent is when we prepare for the coming of the Lord. It’s a season where the Church recognizes the world is not what it should be and we long for a Savior to come and make all things new. The certainty of the first coming allows us to look forward in hope to the second coming of Christ. In Advent, we cry, “Come quickly, Lord Jesus!”

The kingdom of God is built with perfectly hewn stones fitting perfectly together crafted by God. And we are the stones. What does this have to do with The Lord's Prayer? The answer is... Everything!

Prayer is not something we do naturally. It’s difficult to make a regular part of our lives and we often struggle to feel like it does anything. Even the disciples wondered about prayer and asked Jesus to teach them to pray. So at least we know the disciples weren’t chosen because of their amazing prayer life.

Is pride the deadliest of the seven deadly sins? Pride makes a new covenant with us, that “we will be like God, and that we will surely not die.”
