SERMON OVERVIEW
Suffering, Injustice, and Redemption
Why do good people suffer while those who do wrong seem to prosper? In Ecclesiastes 8, we encounter the painful gap between our belief in a just God and the injustice we see around us. This sermon invites us to face that tension honestly, bringing our questions and struggles to God.
When suffering feels overwhelming, we can settle into resignation, filling our days with distractions and expecting little to change. But Jesus opens another possibility: redemption. By entering our broken world and experiencing suffering himself, Jesus reveals that God is present in our pain and can work through circumstances that seem hopeless.
Through his death and resurrection, Christ shows that evil and injustice do not have the final word. We may not understand what God is doing, but we can trust that he has not abandoned us.
At the communion table, we remember the foundation of our hope: Christ has died, Christ has risen, and Christ will come again. This hope gives us courage to engage with a hurting world, trusting that God is at work in us and around us. Even amid unanswered questions, we can hold fast to his love and the promise that redemption is possible through Christ.
