The People & The Place
In 2011, we were invited to the streets of the Kalighat red-light district and the mud-pathed slums surrounding the city. It’s a world completely different than our own, but one that God loves and one he has called us to love with him.

For over 20 years Smriti has served tirelessly among the women of the Kalighat, to show them the love of Christ, and to care for their little ones.

GRACE > DISGRACE
In the Kalighat red-light district women trapped in the sex trade who have been robbed of dignity since their youth. Through the Kalighat Bible Clubs, the women are able to form friendships in a safe environment and learn about Jesus.
CHILDREN
LOVING THE LEAST OF THESE
Smriti began a preschool for the children of the Kalighat that eventually spread into four locations in the surrounding slums. The children are taught about Jesus and how to read and write using the Bible.

ENDING THE CYCLE
Mudpath Ministries seeks to rescue girls from the cycle of poverty and the sex trade by pulling them out of the Kalighat and placing them in boarding school before they can enter the system.
